The concept of work time and work space plays a central role in my art production, the non edited residue of an event that has a definable start/stop time frame and is specific to an actual place. The ongoing series garden of cellular indecision is a set of 12”x12” copper plates that are used to produce the sounds that are fed into a laptop computer during live sound performances. Each performance has a specific start time, finish time and place of performance. The time and date of the performance is noted on the plate together with the marks, gouges and scratches that are a result of each performance. The plates are selected at random for each performance and again the start/stop time and date is noted on the plate. This layering of evidence allows the plates to develop and evolve over time with each subsequent performance. Periodically the plates are selected in no particular order and printed. Colours are selected at random from a range of premixed colours.
The prints are unique with no editions and are untitled.
